Professional Painting Services Built on Quality and Care

At Rapid Painters, every project we take on — large or small — gets the same level of attention, preparation and finishing. We're a full-service painting company that handles residential homes, body corporates, estates, retail spaces, offices, restaurants, warehouses, industrial buildings and everything in between. Below you'll find a detailed look at the painting services we offer, what each one actually involves, and how we approach them differently from a quick paint-and-go contractor.

Our approach is built around three principles that guide every job: thorough preparation, the right paint product for the right surface, and a finish you'd be happy to point at and say you paid for. We work across Johannesburg, Sandton, Pretoria, Centurion, Midrand, Kempton Park, Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Paarl and surrounding suburbs, with a hands-on team that understands how local conditions — sun exposure, rain patterns, coastal salt air, dust — affect paint longevity and surface preparation needs.

Residential Painting

Painting a home is more than rolling colour on a wall. It's preparing the surface properly, choosing finishes that suit how each room is actually lived in, protecting your furniture and floors throughout the project, and leaving the place not just freshly painted but cleaner than when we arrived. Whether it's a single bedroom that needs refreshing, a full home repaint after years of family life, a new property you've just moved into, or a townhouse you're getting ready to sell, our residential painting service covers it all.

We handle full interior and exterior home painting, ceilings, bulkheads, tricky corners, plastered and brick walls, boundary walls, decks, fences, wooden surfaces, garage and cement floors, plus all the small repairs, filling, sanding and prep work that goes with making a home look genuinely refreshed. Every job starts with a proper site visit, an honest conversation about colours and finishes, and a clear quote that doesn't change once we start.

  • Interior & exterior home repaints
  • Townhouses, duplexes, apartments & cottages
  • Ceilings, bulkheads, doors, trims & skirtings
  • Boundary walls, fences, decks & wooden surfaces
  • Crack repair, filling, sanding & full surface prep

Commercial Painting

Commercial properties have their own set of challenges that residential work doesn't — trading hours that can't be disrupted, staff working through the project, customers who don't want to walk past wet paint, and tighter scheduling windows. Our commercial painting service is built around all of this. We work after hours, overnight, on weekends, in phased sections, or however your operations require, so your business never has to close for the project.

We paint offices, retail stores, restaurants, hotels, guest houses, schools, medical practices, warehouses, factories and showrooms across Gauteng and the Western Cape. Our team handles internal partitions, large exterior facades, parking structures, signage walls and high-traffic areas with hard-wearing paint systems chosen specifically for commercial use. We also coordinate closely with facilities managers, body corporates and building owners to keep the project moving without surprises.

Interior Painting

Interior painting is one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to completely change how a room — or an entire home — feels. New paint, properly chosen and properly applied, makes spaces feel brighter, cleaner, more modern and more valuable. Our interior painting work covers everything inside the property: walls, ceilings, bulkheads, cornices, doors, frames, skirtings, window sills, built-in cupboards and any feature elements you'd like to repaint.

We use the right sheen for each space — matt for bedrooms and lounges, washable acrylic for kitchens and high-traffic areas, semi-gloss for trims, satin where you want a touch of subtle reflection. All furniture is covered, floors are protected, and walls are properly prepped (filled, sanded, primed) before any paint goes on. We do clean cut-ins by hand around every edge so there are no wavy lines where wall meets ceiling, and we don't leave site until you're happy with every detail.

  • Walls, ceilings, cornices & bulkheads
  • Doors, frames, skirtings & window sills
  • Built-in cupboards & feature walls
  • Furniture & floor protection throughout
  • Hand-cut edges with no wavy lines

Exterior Painting

Exterior surfaces in South Africa take serious weather punishment — intense UV, summer thunderstorms, winter cold snaps, coastal salt air and constant temperature swings. A cheap exterior paint job will start to fade, peel and crack inside two years. A properly specified exterior painting system, applied by a team that knows what it's doing, can keep your home looking sharp for seven to ten years before it needs another full repaint.

We pressure clean before we start, repair cracked plaster, treat any damp issues, prime where necessary and then apply two full coats of weather-resistant exterior paint matched to your wall surface and exposure. We also paint fascia boards, gutters, downpipes, garage doors, gates, palisades, retaining walls, boundary walls, decks and outdoor wooden surfaces with the right product for each material.

  • Houses, complexes, estates & townhouses
  • Boundary & retaining walls
  • Fascia boards, gutters, downpipes
  • Gates, palisades & steel features
  • UV-stable, weather-resistant paint systems

Roof Painting & Coating

Your roof takes more weather punishment than any other part of your home. Sun, rain, temperature shifts, lichen, moss and dust all wear down the surface over the years. A faded, chalky or moss-covered roof is one of the fastest ways to make an otherwise well-kept home look tired. Our roof painting service starts with a thorough high-pressure clean to strip away years of buildup, followed by repairs to cracked tiles, lifted flashing, rusted sheets and any minor leaks we spot.

We then apply a substrate-appropriate primer and finish with two coats of UV-stable, flexible roof coating in the colour of your choice. Done properly, this not only looks great but extends the working life of the roof itself by several years. We work on tile roofs (concrete and clay), IBR sheeting, corrugated zinc, and torch-on flat roofs. For coastal properties we use specifically formulated coatings designed to resist salt air corrosion.

Waterproofing & Damp Repair

Damp is one of the most damaging — and most often ignored — problems a property can have. Stained walls, peeling paint near skirtings, blistered exterior plaster, leaking parapets or flat roofs, water marks on ceilings and that musty smell after rain are all signs that water is finding a way in somewhere. Our waterproofing team starts by identifying the actual source of the water ingress — because painting over a damp wall is pointless if the leak is still active.

Once we've found the problem, we apply the right solution: torch-on waterproof membrane for flat roofs and balconies, flexible acrylic waterproof coatings for parapets and exterior walls, rising damp injection systems for ground-floor wall damp, or a full strip, treat and reseal where surfaces are too far gone for a simple coating. Once the area is protected, we restore the paintwork so the surface looks as good as it is functional.

  • Rising damp diagnosis & injection
  • Wall & ceiling damp repair
  • Torch-on membranes & acrylic systems
  • Full repaint and restoration after treatment

Decorative Finishes & Feature Walls

Sometimes you don't want every wall painted the same. Sometimes you want one feature wall in a rich tone, a textured finish in a hallway, a two-tone scheme in a living room, or a custom colour you can't find on a standard fan deck. Our decorative finishes work is built for exactly these moments — when a space needs a touch of personality rather than just a fresh layer of magnolia.

We handle textured plaster effects, accent feature walls, two-tone colour schemes, custom colour matching from a sample you bring us, decorative ceilings, paint-over-wallpaper transformations, faux finishes and bespoke colour work for businesses that need to match brand palettes precisely. We'll also sample test-patches in your room before committing so you can see exactly how the colour will read against your light, floors and furniture.

Surface Preparation: The Step Most Painters Skip

The difference between a paint job that looks great for two years and one that still looks great in seven comes down almost entirely to what happens before the first coat of paint touches the wall. Surface preparation is the unglamorous, time-consuming part of the job that cheaper contractors race through — and it's the single biggest reason their work doesn't last.

At Rapid Painters, we treat preparation as a project in its own right. Every surface gets washed and cleaned of dust, grease and old loose paint. Cracks are routed out, filled and sanded smooth. Damp problems are identified and treated before any new paint is applied. Glossy surfaces are sanded back so primer can bond properly. Stains are blocked. Bare patches are primed. Holes from old shelves and picture hooks are filled. Wallpaper is properly stripped, not just painted over. Skirtings and door frames are masked off cleanly. Everything that needs to be done before paint, gets done before paint.

Choosing the Right Paint System for the Job

One of the most common mistakes property owners make is letting price alone decide which paint goes on their walls. The cheapest tin on the shelf will rarely be the right product for a busy lounge, a high-humidity bathroom, a sun-blasted north-facing exterior wall, or a coastal property exposed to salt air. We choose paint products based on what the surface actually needs.

For interior walls in high-traffic areas — hallways, kitchens, lounges, children's rooms — we use washable acrylic finishes that can handle wiping down without losing colour. For bathrooms and laundries, we use mould-resistant paint formulations designed for high-humidity environments. For exterior walls we specify UV-stable, water-resistant systems matched to wall composition and exposure. For roofs and metalwork, we use specialised coatings with rust-inhibiting primers. For coastal homes, we choose finishes formulated to resist salt corrosion. The result is a finish that does the job it's meant to do for as long as possible.

Painting Across Gauteng and the Western Cape

Local knowledge matters more than most people realise when it comes to paint. A perfect exterior paint system for Pretoria — hot summers, dry winters, lots of UV — won't behave the same way in the coastal humidity of Cape Town or Somerset West. The roof coatings we use on a tile roof in Centurion are different from what we'd specify for the older slate roofs we sometimes encounter in older Cape Town suburbs. The exterior paint we recommend for a north-facing Sandton wall isn't the same as what we'd put on a shaded south-facing wall in Stellenbosch.

Because we work across so many different suburbs and climates, we've built up a clear understanding of what works where, and we bring that experience to every quote.
